Just about everyone suffers from internal piles at some point in their lives. However, they are not easily observed, they are not necessarily a problem, they normally stay out of view, and they show no symptoms thus most people don’t even realize that they have them. 
But did you know that, according some stats that I’ve found online, over 16 million people suffer from piles that they DO notice each and every year? (If you’re having symptoms, and you’re not sure if they are piles, make sure and check out my piles pictures gallery.)
Typically when someone first notices symptoms of piles, or hemorrhoids (sometimes spelled hemroids), they respond with fear and anxiety.
One day, you’ve got a great looking rear-end that you’re proud to show off in the bedroom. The next, your anus looks like it has it’s insides coming out. The piles may also suddenly start being painful, itching, and just feeling generally irritated like nothing you’ve felt before in your life.
The anxiety can sometimes be tremendous. You see blood on the toilet paper and in the toilet. You are in unbearable pain with extremely irritating itching. And if your piles are thrombosed and they look like some of the pictures in the piles pictures gallery, it can be startling.
In truth, though, hemorrhoids are just inflamed blood vessels that generally respond well to treatment.
Let’s not forget, though, that they are highly embarrassing also. Even if you can get over the anxiety, you’re probably embarrassed. After all, our society thinks of anything to do with bowel movements as being very private and hush-hush. Even having a medical exam by a doctor can be embarrassing. However, physicians are highly trained professionals, particularly in the case of rectal specialists, who have to go through years of post-doctoral training. They are, thus, used to dealing with hemorrhoids and piles and will be very professional.
And it’s even more embarrassing if the hemorrhoids are potentially caused by anal intercourse. Sex is another touchy subject, and combining the two can make for a very uncomfortable conversation with your doctor. The doctor may ask questions of a very personal nature about your sexual habits but they will not ask questions that they do not need to ask for the diagnosis, and they will not (should not) be prejudiced against whatever sexual practices you are engaged in.
But did you know that the issue of piles is so common, and so widely known in the medical community that every doctor, even general practitioners, are experienced and able to perform an outpatient piles surgery. The most common surgeries are rubber band ligation, or injections. Like I said, they can often be performed on an outpatient basis, although the recovery can be somewhat painful when you have a bowel movement. Doctors see patients with piles every single day, and are not embarrassed to talk about it or to look at your ass.
So get over your embarrassment. I did, and I finally got my piles taken care of. Your doctor will not be any personal than necessary, and you will probably get a lot of relief from your anxiety. Even if you’ve looked at piles pictures and are sure that you have hemorrhoids, it’s always good to hear from a doctor that it’s nothing more serious. They will probably recommend, at least initially, just a change in diet.
A good idea when you’re getting ready for your doctor appointment is to start writing down the symptoms on a notepad. This way, when you’re talking to the doctor, you can get past some of your embarrassment by just reading off the symptoms that you’ve written down, instead of having to think about them from memory. So even if you are highly anxious and embarrassed, you can express the symptoms without walking out feeling like you have a grudge and bearing a wan expression.
Many people who are not trained in diagnosing piles may confuse what they are experiencing with an anal fissure, warts, or even something more serious like cancer. So first, check out the piles pictures gallery, since I’ve include pics of piles, hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and other conditions. Then try first to treat your piles on your own. Then, if they don’t go away, make sure to get a medical opinion.
